Swift Green Filters SGF-G23 Replacement for GE MSWF

Be careful on sizing
This filter did not fit my refrigerator which takes MSWF filters. While I was able to screw it in, no water came out. When you compare this filter to the official GE one, you can see the screw is slightly shorter. It seems that the Swift Green filter's screw is not long enough to reopen the water release valve on my refrigerator. It might work with yours, but buy at your own risk.

Off-taste and hard to install
I had an extremely difficult time installing this filter in my GE refrigerator. Looking carefully at the threads on this and a genuine MSWF filter, I could see that the shape wasn't quite the same. It's molded plastic; how hard should it be to get that right? I fought with it for a good 5 minutes before I was able to wriggle it into place.

I followed the instructions for preparing it for use, then running gallons of water through to get it started. I've been using it for at least a month, and there is a consistent off-smell/taste to the water that we've never had before (and that isn't present out the tap). I'm back to Amazon to buy a real GE MSWF filter, and will toss this imposter out.

Caused a lot of problems
We had been using the OEM filters for years, but decided to give this one a try because it was available on Amazon Prime. Installation was trickier than it should have been due to the interface of filter/refrigerator not being an exact copy of the original.

Once the water started flowing, the filter would create an air lock condition where air would get in the system and not allow any water to pass. We'd have to unscrew it and re-install. Very burdensome.

Do not waste your time on this filter. Spend a few extra bucks and get the one that was designed for your fridge by the manufacturer.
