BISSELL OptiClean Cyclonic Canister Vacuum, Bagless, 66T61

Quiet and Ineffective
This unit has so far proven that it is both quiet and not entirely effective. In the past I have both owned and have been very pleased with Bissell products. On this particularly occasion I do not find myself sitting in that corner of improvement.

On each of my area rugs this unit takes several passes to pick up the most mild of materials. I have three large rugs of varying depth and material to provide an excellent range of a testing base. On the hardwood floors it does more to collect debris in the head of the unit rather than actually pull objects into the deposit container. If transitioning from floor to carpet this results in the debris being deposited onto the rug. Several passes later it will eventually collect what the deposits it left behind.

On the positive outlook the unit itself is fairly quiet and the attachments are of good quality construction. While the vacuum is an affordable option I would advise against the purchase.

great little vacuum
I've been looking for a small vacuum to leave upstairs in my house so I wouldn't have to lug a heavy Sears POS canister vac around. I saw this in Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $99 and with a 20% off coupon i bought it for $80. This vac is relatively quiet, has very good suction, is light and the bag less feature doesn't bother me as i figure I'm saving money on bags. I have 2 dogs so pet hair is a problem but not with this vac. The only gripe I have and it is a minor one is the cord could be a little longer but it is retractable. I would give it a six star rating if it had a power nozzle but what do you expect for $80.

So far pleased with this vacuum
I've only been using this vacuum for a few weeks so I can't comment on durability just yet, but so far I'm very pleased and would buy again.

Pros: fairly lightweight and easy to move around; relatively small and easy to store; the cord is plenty long enough to get around my oddly-shaped apartment that has very few outlets; the suction is adjustable and works well on both my hardwood floors and on area rugs; all the attachments fit on board the vacuum; the price is reasonable; the vacuum head is relatively small and fits under the ledge under my cabinets and under my baseboard heaters, which makes it easier to clean.

Cons: the vacuum hose is pretty short, which means bending over a bit awkwardly to vacuum; it might be a little messy to empty the dust cup, but that's to be expected from a bagless, and is worth it to not have to buy bags; the vacuum probably isn't made of the highest-quality materials, but is appropriate to the price
