Four Stars with reservations!
I would love to find a really good "smokeless ashtray", but haven't found one yet! This product, however, comes the closest to being "good" so 4 stars. (I have tried 3-4 others.)
Pros:
* Quieter than most other ashtrays with fan & filters, especially after extended use, where other ashtrays have become noisy even with regular cleaning. But it can still be somewhat annoying.
* Does seem to trap smoke fairly well and air exiting vents is much reduced in "smokey" smell, although not as much as I would like.
* Battery life in this ashtray is about twice as long as other ashtrays I have used. ( I use NiMH rechargables, of course, anything else would be prohibitively expensive.)
* It has extinguishing holes.
Cons:
* Cigarette / cigar rests are too short! Cigarette as it burns if you are not careful can fall out of rest slots onto table.
* Design makes emptying it somewhat of a pain and can be messy.
* Filters can be expensive...

Have been using smokeless ashtrays for years. Some work, some dont, some last some dont, some are junk, some are a pain in the ass to use. Gone through about 10 different models and this one is heads and tails above the rest.
Pros: Quietest, filters last the longest, filters are cheap, filters catch the most smoke, batteries last for months of continous use, large capacity, nice appearance, the thing is made heavy duty and quality you can tell as soon as you feel it.
Cons: The wife still yells at me for not picking up my socks.

This product is a lot better than I had expected. It really draws in the smoke and filters it out. It is heavy and durable for home use. I suggest it to all buyers this is a deal.
